Ole Xtreme Wellness wraps

BFree Sweet Potato Wraps

Hippeas Organic Chickpea Puffs

Don Lee Farms Veggie Burgers

Blue Diamond Almond Breeze almond milk

Ole Xtreme Wellness wraps

Pros:

  • Soft, foldable without breaking, and yummy!
  • Each wrap is a reasonable serving size (aka not for a burrito the size of your head).
  • Only 50 calories per wrap! We love!!
  • No saturated fat, low total fat (1.5 g or 2% DV).
  • No trans fats, hydrogenated oils, or palm oil.
  • AMAZINGLY high in fiber!!!  We love having 39% DV or 11 grams of fiber per wrap, especially because the texture and taste would suggest otherwise.
  • Contains some whole wheat, ground flax seeds, and extra virgin olive oil – all great ingredients.

Cons:

High in sodium due to the baking soda and dough conditioners. Due to its thinness, we hope they consider lowering the leavening agent.

Verdict:

The best wrap we have tried thus far! It can be used cold as a wrap for pinwheels or warm for burritos since it is very flexible.  These are delicious and nutritious with a huge amount of fiber.

The sodium is a bit high, and we hope they consider lowering the amount of baking soda or dough conditioner for an even better choice.

No need to eat “healthy” cardboard-tasting tortillas/wraps or those super high in fat anymore! These babies give you fiber AND deliciousness.  This one is a keeper!

BFree Sweet Potato Wraps

Pros:

  • Sweet potato taste is light and pleasant
  • Bendable wrap does not fall apart cold or when warmed
  • 100 calories per wrap
  • No saturated fat, no hydrogenated oils, no cholesterol
  • Lower in sodium compared to many wraps
  • No added sugars
  • Gluten & dairy-free for those concerned about these
  • Vegan friendly
  • Mix of sweet potato flour with some whole grains
  • Huge amount of fiber! 6 grams (21% DV) in one wrap. We Love!

Cons:

  • Edges of several wraps were a little rough, both right out of the package and after heating in a warm pan. Not all were this way, so maybe we got a few duds?

Verdict

The blend of various grains such as sorghum, quinoa, and amaranth, as well as psyllium (high in fiber), makes this product stand out.

With an amazing amount of fiber, no saturated fat, cholesterol, or added sugars, these are a great healthy alternative to many wraps and tortillas.

We also like that these do not fall apart! Overall, we enjoyed these wraps and recommend trying them.

Hippeas Organic Chickpea Puffs

Pros:

  • Yummy! Crunchy, puffy, and filling; it lessened the attempt to overeat.
  • Many interesting flavors like bohemian BBQ and sriracha sunshine available
  • 0g of saturated fat (potato chips can have 10-15% DV per serving)
  • High in fiber! 3g per serving from organic chickpeas and pea hulls. Now that’s a great reason to switch from potato chips to Hippeas!
  • Hippeas partners with Feeding America; we love great food that supports excellent programs.

Cons:

  • We were not thrilled by the white cheddar flavor but loved many other flavors.

Verdict:

With plant-based vegan ingredients, no saturated fat, and high fiber, Hippeas, are a fantastic snack choice. We also love supporting companies that support the greater good. With lots of flavors to choose from, you’re likely to love these!

Don Lee Farms Veggie Burgers sweet potato & sunflower seed

Pros:

  • Delicious!
  • Easy to prepare
  • All ingredients are organic
  • Plant-based (veggies, rice, sunflowers, soybean oil, oats)
  • Vegan friendly
  • No artificial ingredients, non-GMO
  • Contains fiber! No animal-burger has this.
  • Lower in calories than a hamburger (170 vs. ~230)
  • Much lower in fat than animal burgers (8g vs. ~15g)
  • Much lower in saturated fat than beef (1 g, 6% vs. ~6 g, 30% DV)
  • No cholesterol
  • Label indicates 1 patty is equal to 2/3 cup of veggies
  • Gluten-free for those who may be concerned

Cons:

  • A bit high in sodium (320mg 14%DV), much higher than meat burgers (~65mg, although prep can dramatically change this)
  • Packaging! Yikes, the huge tray is unnecessary, a waste of fridge space, and not environmentally friendly. We hope they go back to using a simple bag.

Verdict:

We have tried several of Don Lee Farm’s products, and so far, we love them! This blend of sweet potato and sunflower seeds is particularly delicious.

Even our meat-loving friends have enjoyed these, and with no cholesterol, lower saturated fat, and lower calories, we can feel good serving them something healthier.

We would love to see less salt and absolutely hate the packaging.

Overall, these delicious veggie burgers are highly recommended!

Blue Diamond Almond Breeze reduced sugar vanilla almond milk

Pros:

  • Smooth and delicious.
  • Has way less of that almondy aftertaste of most brands
  • This low sugar variety gives just enough sweetness to balance the vanilla without being overpowering.
  • NO Saturated Fat! Yippee! Having a healthier alternative to high saturated-fat cow milk is fabulous!
  • It has MORE calcium than cow milk, contains as much vitamin D, and has a huge amount of vitamin E.
  • Vegan friendly
  • No cows were involved in the making of the product

Cons:

  • Very low in protein.

Verdict:

We absolutely love this almond milk. It isn’t bitter like many other brands that leave an aftertaste. It also isn’t too sweet; Goldilocks is happy!

We can feel good about this dairy alternative with no saturated fat and high calcium, vitamin D, and E. We recommend it!
