T. Turner, Ph.D., Registered Dietitian & Principal Scientist
Dr. Turner holds a Ph.D. in Nutritional Biology from the University of California, Davis. Her doctoral research focused on vitamins and phytonutrients to improve health, especially in women and children in developing countries.
Dr. Turner completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Arizona, Tucson. Her research focused on understanding and modifying health behaviors using communication strategies and mobile health tools (e.g., apps). Projects included creating a diabetes prevention program for children and their families and an app using mindfulness-based techniques for teens.
Dr. Turner has developed national mobile health programs to improve public health. She also has worked in food and agriculture and for non-profits, promoting the nutrition of whole plant foods and supporting farmers. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and biology and has taught science for many years. Also, Dr. T is a US military veteran with a background in pharmacology and a registered dietitian.
As a foodie and a dog lover, you might find Dr. T and her dog out exploring the world in the RV, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, or in the food aisle reading nutrition labels on another new (and hopefully yummy) product!

What we do
Dietitian Services:
Have a medical condition, desire nutrition counseling, or want to improve your athletic performance? I am a registered dietitian specializing in numerous areas of nutrition:
- I offer telehealth services for medical nutrition therapy for patients residing in AZ, CA, CO, FL, NJ, VA, and WI.
- For nutrition counseling (not related to a medical condition), and for sports and performance nutrition, I support adults and children 6 years and older in all 50 states of the U.S.
The website NutrishZen.com, provides general health, nutrition, and food information that is (1) supported by science, (2) easier to read than a peer-review journal or government website, (3) (hopefully) fun and interesting, and (4) provide with the “HOW TO DO” rather than just “the what.”
I do not profit from any product mentioned nor do we get paid to create content or endorse specific foods.
I believe that healthy people make the world a better place. I strive to make it simple with yummy and nutritious foods, lifestyle behaviors, tips, tricks, and strategies for a healthier you!
